00:00 What happens during your first court appearance? It's a good question. And the
00:04 fact of the matter is, is that if you've got a good attorney, not much at all.
00:07 What's needed of you as far as your obligations? Not much. You've got to be
00:11 in the courtroom before docket is called. So when that when docket is called,
00:15 you're present and you're able to stand up with your attorney and your attorney
00:18 is going to stay present with counsel. And other than that, your job is to sit
00:22 there and not cause trouble. Not a lot, okay? Your attorney on the other hand, now
00:28 Now, your attorney, if you've retained a good one, by that point in time should have already
00:32 read your file, should know the discovery better than anybody else in the room, including
00:36 the prosecutors.
00:37 And when they go and they speak to the prosecutors, they should be able to put your case forward
00:41 as well as possible.
00:43 Now, in my world, when it comes to my clients, if I feel like we're not going to get much
00:48 accomplished on that day, or haven't been able to get a hold of the prosecutors, or
00:52 we're still waiting on things, in that particular circumstances, I'll usually try to get a
00:56 reset.
00:56 That way it doesn't stress you or make you call in from work or try to get childcare
01:02 or any of those other things that take time out of your life for something that isn't going to happen.
01:08 Now, if you've got any other questions about that, I encourage you to call my office for a free consult at 210-222-9446.
01:16 Thank you.
